Students were mulling around the halls, the lunchroom, and outside at the school. It was lunch time, and everywhere Kyo went, it was noisy. He disliked that because his hearing was sensitive and it hurt his ears. But he liked it because now nobody could hear him mutter 'dang rat' under his breath repeatedly. He'd lost to Yuki this morning in a fight, and was still angry about it. He was itching for another battle with Ratboy, but they couldn't get into a fight at school.
He grabbed the bento that Tohru had packed for him and walked through the crowded lunch room, avoiding girls at all costs. He got to the door and opened it to go outside. It wasn't as crowded out here. It was cooler so less kids were eating out here. But Kyo figured that with some fresh air, he'd be able to clear his head.
He wandered around outside for a bit, looking at tables, even though he planned on going up to the roof like he usually did.
But then again, he figured if he encountered Yuki at all, he'd probably snap. And that would probably lead him to yell at Tohru and get in some argument with Uotani, and then Hanajima would stare at him with those creepy eyes. And so, with that, he concluded he'd better sit at one of the empty tables down here. He walked over to one and sat down, opening up his bento.
((Bleh. Shade sits with him or something? XD))

A young freshman was fairly confused. Stupid high school. Stupid high school and stupid seniors that liked to 'mess' with the freshman. Shade at the moment was trying to avoid those stuck up, ignorant pigs and try and eat in peace.
Oh, okay, a pretty much empty table. Only one guy at it.
Shade, holding her lunch in one hand, made her way to the table. "Can I sit here?" She asked him, her green eyed gaze locking onto the orange haired boy. He really hhad strange hair color. She wondered if it was natural. And his eyes too. Though she really wasn't one to speak about the eyes. It was that she didn't like them. He was a fairly attractive guy, but she was the type to fall head-over-heels in love with a guy she just met.

Kyo merely glanced up at her, then looked back at his food. When she asked her question, he waited a few minutes before answering. He shrugged his shoulders.
"Yeah, sure," he said, taking a bite out of a rice ball afterward. "Go ahead," he said after he'd swallowed his bite of food.

Shade didn't say anything else, just sat down next to Kyo. She started eating her own food, sitting in the ackward silence. She wondered if he was ever going to say anything. She of course, wasn't going to say anything unless he did. First off, she had no idea what else to say. Plus, though she would never admitt it, she was a bit too shy to say anything.
Shade figured it was time for her to buck up and say something before she died of the silence. "So... are you a freshman this year?" She asked, this was a huge highschool, just because she hadn't seen him before doesn't mean that he's not a freshman. But he did look a bit too old to be a freshman...

Kyo glanced at her out of the corner of his cat-like eyes and kept watching her. "Freshman? No. I'm a sophomore," he said as if it was obvious. He wasn't being condescending on purpose. That's just how it came out. "You?" he asked, tone a little less snappy now.

"Freshman." Shade said, a little taken aback by his snappish tone. But she soon got over it. With the odd hair and eye color, he sounded like the Sohma's she'd been hearing about all day. He definately fit the discription of one.
"Are you a Sohma?" She finally decided to ask. It didn't hurt to ask him, and if he wasn't she would just shrug and ask something else.

Kyo shrugged, wondering why it mattered whether he was a Sohma or not to her. It didn't even seem to matter to his own family whether he belonged to the family or not.
"Yeah," he replied. "Why?" he asked. He ate some more food, then realized he didn't have anything to drink. He started feeling in his pocket for some change, soon finding some and pulling it out, laying it on the table to see how much he had. He counted enough to buy at least two drinks. He couldn't remember putting money in his pocket this morning. Huh. Were these pants dirty? Oh, whatever.

"Just askin'." Shade shrugged. "You sound like one of the Sohma's everyone's been talking about. There's this other one apparently, supposedly they call him 'Prince Yuki'..." She said with another slight shrug. Such trivial things normally didn't intrest her.
She herself just noticed that she had also forgotten to bring something to drink, but hand no money and she wasn't just about to ask some stranger for money for something to drink. She would be fine without one. Besides, the water fountains were free anyways.

Kyo laughed humorlessly. "More like Princess," he muttered mockingly. "That d**n prettyboy sucks. He thinks he's so perfect, but that just makes him boring," he said irritably. He scooped up the money into his palm and messed with it a bit. The orange-headed boy stood up.
"Want something to drink?" he asked gruffly. Well, the girl didn't seem interested in Yuki or anything. Why not? It's not like it would hurt to just buy her a drink. He had enough money and it's not like he'd use it on anything else...

Shade couldn't help but smirk at Kyo's muttering. "Sounds like you don't like him." She said causually. Her green eyes looked up almost lazily at him. Shade one the outside ussually seemed calm and collected, and almost indefferent to the world around her, which made it hard to tell what she was thinking. Something that she inherited from her mother. But she was also a natural born fighter. Something else that she also got from her mother.
She looked up almost in surprise at his offer, but quickly covered it up with a sweet, crooked little smile. Her cousin Kyoshi told her once that that smile made her want to grab a puppy and squeeze it. Shade thought her cousin was smoking something. "Sure." She said to the boy, running a hand through her thick black hair and playing with the ends of it before letting it drop and standing up as well to go and get something to drink. Maybe they would have Red Bull in the machine... "Thanks." Shade added after more thought.

"Don't like him at all," Kyo agreed. He even smiled back at her, slightly. It was a crooked smirk, but still a smile.
"Okay," he said whens he said she wanted a drink. "What do you want?" he asked. He himself would just get a pop. A Coke or Pepsi or whatever.

"Hm... do they have any Red Bull?" Shade asked him, tilting her head ever-so-slightly, giving her the appearance of a cat watching something.
"So why don't you like him?" Shade asked, her interest piqued now.

"Think so," Kyo replied, ignoring the second question for now. He left and got the drinks. He came back with Red Bull in one hand and Coke in the other. He sat down.
"I don't like Yuki 'cause there's nothin' to like," he told Shade. "And there are... certain circumstances. It's like... we need to hate each other," he added, telling as much truth as he could. He stopped there, opening his pop and taking a long drink.

"Thanks." Shade said with a mumble, popping the top to the metal can and taking a sip of the yellow green liquid.
She tilted her head at Kyo. "That's odd." She commented, playing again with a strand of her inky black hair. She shrugged. "Guess it really doesn't matter though." She said. "I disklike my fair share of people." She said almost absent-mindedly. She let the strand of hair drop. "I don't think I caught your real name." Shade told Kyo, tilting her head up normally now.

"Kyo," the teenager murmured, disregarding everything else she'd just said and not replying to it. He ate more of his lunch, ran his fingers through his hair for a moment, kind of itching his head as he did so, then drank some more Coke. "You?" he asked, leaning back in the chair.
