Death, the sable smoke where vanishes the flame.
The country side flashed by in the darkness with increasing speed as the bike roared down the empty road, picking up speed as it did. Black and red, it was a fine tuned piece of machinery, and the perfect tool to escape, and never be followed. Something that would allow one peace of mind as they simply raced down the empty miles, just feeling the air on their face, without the worry of life, the feelings out being an outcast, the feelings of being nothing but another shadow. There was literally nothing in the empty land, nothing but grass, trees, and this one solitary road that wound itself to nowhere, out of sight, out of mind, and ringing with only the thrum of power created by the motorcycle. The driver of the impressive bike though, was not at peace of mind, his thoughts a scattered confusion, tinged with the darkness that had followed him all throughout childhood. A darkness that he feared consumed him with every moment, but one he didn’t fear anymore, one he was willing to embrace, if he thought he would ever be able to go back to himself after he did so.
Still not fast enough… What was he running from? Even he didn’t know himself, but something deep within told that there was no speed to beat what was chasing him; it would all come back eventually. White teeth flashing in the midnight darkness, reason was just a fleeting dream at the moment, but Dante had known for a long time, ever since he had killed D’Noir and Ren, that he would never be able to outrun the mysterious follower, and for a while, he hadn’t even tried. And at first, he hadn’t even tried, he had been content with the way things were, back where he had once lived. Could it be called a home? Maybe once upon a time it could have been called that, but not now. The present had provided him with housing, but it couldn’t be called a home. A loner in all means, there was no real way for him to settle down, but as the scenes raced beside him, this place seemed as good as any. At least, it was empty for what he could see. Grinning a bitter smile in the helmet, the black and red haired man could only shake his head slightly. A home, he had never had one of those.
Maybe once upon a time, he had had something he could have considered a home. Back when he still had a purpose back there; he even had a half sister whom he had left behind, with only a drawing of where he went. She would miss him at first, but she would get over him. She had Shigure to cope with anyway, she wouldn’t miss one antisocial being, even if they had many memories of childhood involving each other. Some memories were shadowed by hate; and at times, it was hard to distinguish between Inferno and himself, although these days, the two weren’t as different as they once had been. Maybe he really had gone off the deep end all those months ago, but could one really blame him? With no purpose, a dislike of people in general, and nothing to do, what could one expect from him? With so many people around, one either had to stay out of the house or stay locked in a room to get any peace, something that he had done a lot, especially toward the end of his stay there. A stay that had lasted for many years.
Gunning it on the strait path, Dante felt himself pretty much leap forward, glad that he had extra fuel in the back. He was alone with his memories, his other half pretty much agreeing with the thought pattern of the moment; typical of the dark and insane Inferno. Overhead, the stars twinkled brightly, lighting the way pretty much for the rider, though the true path was unknown to all. You had no reason to stay there; you were as lost as you are now. The rough voice muttered quietly, Inferno. Sometimes, when he was bored, Dante answered his other aloud, but at the moment, a simple nod would work just as well. It was amazing really, how much he had changed. The sense of belonging, the sense of being needed for more than just being there, it had all faded, though had seemed overwhelming once upon a time. Maybe that was what had inspired the move, and not leaving a trace of where he had gone, or why he had left in the first place. Being alone was a dangerous thing, but it was better than having to force something that wasn’t ever going to happen.
It is better to BURN OUT
How it happened, he didn’t know. But there was something standing in the way, and only one way to avoid it. With all the force he could muster, Dante turned the bike, sending it skidding along the pavement. Even with his reactions though, it was too late. He knew it as soon as he had seen the strange figure. Trying to get away…Why should he? Hadn’t he just been pondering why he still tried so hard anymore? So, instead of rolling away from the bike, Dante just rode it, sparks trailing behind him as he did so, igniting anything that happened to get in the way. With a boom, he hit whatever was in the way, and a great wall of fire seemed to rise up, swallowing everything in its path. Dante watched the wall before he was within it, but oddly enough, seemed to feel no pain. All around him, red, orange, and yellow flared to life, before everything just seemed to go black, and there was just oblivion. With his last breath, Dante grinned ever so faintly, before becoming ashes, literally. He was finally free, riding the flames as they danced, and flying as he had been before the crash. It wasn’t too bad, and the explosion would reach the news all over the world. Maybe someone would remember; when they saw it, or maybe someone would just know. But Dante had finally reached his end; going down in an explosion of fire, creating an Inferno outside of his alter.
Then to FADE AWAY.
[One of the many alternate endings I've come up with for Dante. This is based way in the future, by the way. After the curses break and Akito becomes more sane and such.]
