Static flashed across the TV screen for a moment before it was switched back to a station. Seven murders in the past two weeks. The killer is still at large. The police have released any information regarding the situation currently. All we currently know is that this is a serial killer, and that he will strike again. The questions are, when and who? The screen went black once more. "Hm, it appears I may need some help in this case. Professional help..." After a while he knocked on his sisters door, and then simply walked in. Well, he did give her the knock as a heads up. "Kira-san. Are you home?" He asked in an odd tone. Odd because it wasn't quite monotone. Then poking his head into the living room. "Watch the news lately?" He asked. Normally the case would be as easy as finding the victims. Well, for the most part. With serial killers it was even easier to get the killer, since they are constantly killing. But with these victims, they've come up in buckets. Literally, as though they've been killed then liquidated. Or simply liquidated without the killing coming first. Thus, no dental records, no identifying the victims through looks, all they had was a vague idea on the chemicals used. If even that. L had to admit, finding this out was no easy task. The killer was quite smart, seeming to think about all the possible moves another could make, planning out how to deal with them, then going through with it. So really, they were relying on records of missing persons that fit the location. Even that was hard though. Since people went missing every day, or rather, every hour. Then location was sketchy if impossible to pinpoint. Other-words the were screwed at the moment. ((Such a crapptastic post. Makes me want to cry. *shakes head*))

((Dun cry, be happy!))
Kira -just out of the hospital, outfitted with a leg and a cane she had complained, saying that it made her look old- looked up as her brother entered. She gave a slight half-smile as her younger brother. "Hey L." She greeted, tilting her face upwards at him from her position on the living room couch, paper scattered around her. Her green eyes watched unwavering at him. Actually, I should say green EYE. The other eye, while still there, seemed unnaturally bright and clouded over, like the eye of a vulture. Instead of looking at everything, it seemed to stare right through it. It was unsettling, this green vulture eye.
She pushed aside some papers and stood up, slightly wobbly. It was hard to get used to the new leg, she was already writing up ideas for a new prototype of leg that could be a lot more useful, one that electrically attached to the nervous system, so you could at least do simple motor functions like moves your toes, ankle, knee. But of course that would be difficult, considering that she had no prior experience in that field, not that she had much experience at all in any field of science, so it would be pretty hard. Too much electricity hardwired to your nervous system like that could fry you from the inside-out in about five seconds.
“Yeah, heard ahbout that nutcase meltin’ his victims or whahever.” She said, wobbling again and she put her hands out to steady herself. Her voice was severely slurred due to Hydrocodone, a painkiller similar to morphine. The doctors had also released with some oxycodone, both of those drugs were to be handled with the upmost care or she could become addicted to them, Kira hated drugs as it was so she hardly used these unless she was in a lot of pain, and even then she cut them in half only took one half. The drug was starting to wear off now, it wouldn’t take long at all until she was less groggy and could actually speak. Unlike her daughter, Kira normally had a very well articulated accent, instead of the slurring ghetto she had painstakingly practiced for hours as a teenager to get rid of. Now she only really spoke like that when tired or angry.
“Whaddah ‘bout it?” She asked him, running one hand quickly through her slightly messy long black hair. “Are you on the case?” She asked another question, even though she really didn’t have to. Of COURSE Lawliet Arata was on the case. He was the best detective in the world. He was THREE of the best detectives in the world, more famous then her, and she was pretty renowned. She wasn’t jealous of her baby brother, but proud. He was going to leave a mark on this world when he died. She was so proud of her baby brother. More then you’ll ever be
Ignoring the sarcastic voice in her head, Kira placed one hand on her hip casually and waited for her brother to speak, the fake smile plastered to her face, the burn marks on her lips had finally faded but she still had on hell of a sore throat. But the look on her face, the one vulture eye on her right and the one normal one on her left, the emptiness behind them was eerie. She was physically recovering fine, as fine as a woman who’s blind and deaf on one side and missing a right leg can be. Emotionally however, she was still gathering up her shattered, broken pride and trying to piece it back together, which didn’t help her the not… sane state of her mind, she was more likely to snap like this, anyone who knew her were torn between weither they should treat her the same of more delicately, she could fly off the handle on either.
But anyone could see, behind her eyes, that one horrid one and the one that was still the same, she was going to be empty for a little while.
((Finally picked and allias for her. XD))

((XD A? LoL... L is probably using Ryuzaki and a funky mask as well. Heheh...))
Naturally Kira had had something to do with the explosion. As he had deducted before he had heard about her, well, okay, he had thought that there was a four point three percent chance that she was part of it. But anyway. Normally L would have been one of the many people to visit her many times at the hospital. Though he would have liked to, he would also like to figure out this case in a smooth manner. Whatever that could mean or stand for... But that's just how L thought, so moving on.
"Well, since I'm on the case and it's prooving to be a rather difficult one. Would you like to join me?" He asked, maybe it wouldn't be considered smart to ask her, or simply strange that he was asking someone who had recently got out of a hospital to help with a case. But it would help her get her mind off... Of whatever she was thinking about. Though at times L could think similar to Kira(no pun intended, okay, yeah intended but not at first haha) but it wasn't like he could read her mind. For the most part.
"Of course we would have alias's and such. But you've most likely already assumed this." He added looking off to the side at nothing in particular before looking back at one of his older siblings.
((Gah... XP))

((Actually, Alpha, which is represented by a lower case a. ^^ The actual symbol for it is my name in the c-box. ^^ [<-- Is an over-obsessive Alpha fan] Alpha Alpha Alpha... THEY'RE CARROTS! D=))
Kira looked over at her brother with a look on her face that could only be described as pure bewilderment but with interest. “Ooh, really?” She drawled out, “Sounds like fun and I’m bored out of my mind. Let’s go.” She instantly decided without another thought. Hey, it would be good for her to come out of house every once in a while, as locking yourself up all the time isn’t good for you, so with a loopy grin, she staggered over to her brother and loped her arm through his elbow, forgetting that she was still in her pajamas. “I’m ready right now.” She said. “I’ll think of a code-name on the car ride over.” She said with a satisfied nod, starting towards the door.
She suddenly remembered that she was still in her sleeping clothes and unhooked her arm with Lawliet’s and stared down at herself for a moment. “I should go ‘n’ change, first…” She mumbled out, running a hand through her hair before looking back up at L with her one good eye and her blind vulture eye. “Maybe I’ll bring some pain kill-ers with me, too.” She said as she staggered off to her bedroom, her movement severally compromised by the fact that she had a fake leg and she was currently as high as a kite off of her painkillers. She probably would not remember this later and L would have to remind her, otherwise the next morning when she was no longer high, would probably be very confused as of why actually she was working with her brother on a case.
But those thoughts aside, Kira proceeded to her bed room, it too her a couple tries to actually shut the shut, it just was working G*d Da***t! Idiot Shut up. I am not Whatever you say, crazy woman I’m not crazy Then why are you talking to a voice in your head Hm… touché
She now ignored the dark voice in the back of her head, covering it over with her own thoughts, going over the periodic table in her head. Hydrogen… Helium… Lithium…
Finally getting the door to shut properly, she pulled off the blue pajama top and tossed off to the side and hobbled over to dresser to get a simple white blouse, pulling that on and buttoning it up, it smelled vaguely of Roy’s cologne, oh well. Some of herown perfume would be able to fix that. It probably smelled like Roy because the last time she wore it, she had been over at his apartment, it must have not all washed out… oh well. Pulling out her often-worn gray vest she also slipped that on and buttoned it. Now discarding of her cotton blue pajama pants, she took a pair of gray slacks out and placed those on, trying not to look at her scared body as she pulled them up, and finally smoothed out her shirt, looking herself out in her floor-length mirror. There, now she looked more respectable, her 1920’s America mob style dress had always made her look more respectful-at least, she thought so- but there was only one thing missing.
Hm… what was that? Kira couldn’t think quite clearly for a moment, as she pondered what she was missing.
Oh! Her fedora.
Taking the worn pinstripe gray hat, two cards wedged into the black ribbon that was wrapped around the base of the hat, she placed it on her head. With a satisfied smirk, her gaze avoiding the nasty looking vulture eye that stared back at her and she focused more on her clothing, not wanting to look at that dreadful eye. She couldn’t believe that she could actually live with that thing on her. More than once, she had thought of carving it out of her face, just popping that ugly orb out of her eye socket completely, just so she didn’t have to look at it when she looked in the mirror, but of course, that would cause more problems than it would solve, more likely. See, Kira can be somewhat sensible sometimes. Sometimes…
Now to get rid of Roy’s scent… grabbing a near-by bottle of perfume, she sprayed that one before she was ready to leave again, she unsteadily walked over to the door and opened it, feeling a bit more clear headed now, and she approached her brother. “There. All better!” She said in an almost sing-song voice as she snatched up a pair of sunglasses and promptly put them on her face. She had never worn sunglasses before, but had sent Shade out to buy her a pair so that no one else could look at the dead, unseeing eye on her face. “Let’s go now.”

At least she had caught the clothing thing before he had had to mention it to her. Not that it would have been a problem for him to say anything. Nodding slightly before peeking out after her, he wondered. "Don't need help do you?" That questioned answered itself. Though he wasn't around so much as a kid he knew his sister would much rather go without help and fail, then have to ask for help, or get help, then end up with a hurt pride. Well, most of the time at least. The prosthetic limb must not count. Or she simply had enough deductive reasoning to reason that it would be better to go with then without and live with a cane for the rest of her life. With whole lot more stumbles.
Moving on. When she came out she seemed rather excited to get going. "Ok-ay. Let's go then." He said, once again the former voice sounding outside the normal L tone. "That arm crossed together it too much like the Wizard of Oz though." He added now in his normal monotone voice as he started out the door. "You want a mask like mine too?" The man asked looking over his shoulder at Kira. "They come in handy when you don't want someone to see your face, naturally." He said looking back outside.

((... ::poke brain matter: “Hm, Wizard of Oz. “ Kira said thoughtfully, placing her index finger on her chin in thoughtful manner, and unhooked her elbow with Lawliet’s , but she did however keep her hand on his arm so she didn’t fall flat on her face while walking out of the door. “No thanks, I’ll pass on that, I don’t want to look like a pedophile.” She told him seriousness that was funny, her covered gaze landing on his for a moment as she walked out of the door. “So, tell me about the case, and help me think of good alias.” She told him, as she moved towards the door, opening it up and walking outside with her little brother. “Who all is working on it? Do you have any leads?” She asked. This is exactly what Kira needed, something to get her mind off of her terrible, unfortunate accident. Maybe this would help her emotional wounds along with her physical ones, locking oneself inside of your room isn’t good for your health, as stated before. Maybe she’d be able to collect her shattered pride and put it back together. ((DDD=))

"Pedophile?" Lawliet said sounding slightly thoughtful. "Well, currently I'm under Ryuuzaki no last name. You can keep the fact that we're related confidential. As well as people working on the case many up front and a few behind scenes, like me and soon you." He answered. Once they were outside he lead her out to a black Mercedes with tinted windows. There was already someone in front to drive.
He opened the door and jumped in slipping over to the far side, leaving the seat by the open door for her. "You could be Hitomi." He suggested. Aliases were kind of fun to make up. Moving on, he reached up and grabbed an odd looking snack from the front seat. Which he proceeded to open and eat. "You want something?" He asked with a blink.

“Yes, pedophile.” Kira said, confirming her own words with a nod. She slid into the car after Lawliet, examining it. “… Nice car… no fair…” She told him, then shook her head at his offer of food. “No thanks. As for Hitomi for an alias… that sounds good. I’ll also go as Alpha when I can’t use Hitomi.” She suddenly decided. She figured it would also be best if no one knew she was related to Lawliet, must less, his sister. They could use that against him, and Kira couldn’t let that happen. ((::is shot again:: Riza... stop... please... I'll start making my posts better... PROMISE! ((XDDDD Oh... No... NOT ME TOO!!! D8 *is shot by the crazy guy from the movie we just watched* Gragh... *flails around*))
"I'm not a pedophile..." Lawliet said, blinking then taking another bite of his food. "Welcome Hitomi Alpha." The man added. Once she was in the driver waited a moment for the door to shut before going off. "But it is not exactly my car, neither is the person driving." He added pointing a pale finger at the back of the drivers seat. "By the way, when talking on a phone or something of the like your voice will be disguised. But you're probably familiar with this." It was obvious what he hinted at with that last bit, but he didn't voice it out loud. Blinking he looked out the window and leaned over Kira slightly. Maybe it was a random thing, but he swore he saw something strange out there. As soon as he had done it he was back to crouching in his strange position on the seat though.

((::drags bloody back to laptop:: I... have... failed you!!)) Kira laughed at her younger brother and she idly pulled one knee up to her chest, resting her head on it while the other one dangled off the seat. Oh, with the whole welcoming, this was like, walking into 007, Casino Royale… Yeah, definitely still on a buzz. When L leaned over her to look out the window, Kira gave him and odd look before lolling her head back to see what he was looking at. “Whaddya see?” She asked him lazily, lifting her eyebrows a bit, before looking back into the car again. “… And if this isn’t your car, and it’s not the other guy’s car… who’s is it?” She asked him, furrowing her brow. Her baby brother was much too good to steal anything… but she really wondered who’s car this was. ((::hides:

"Nothing really. People are strange, walking and looking suspicious." Lawliet replied simply. He finished the strange candy, setting the wrapper up front. "It's rented and so is the driver." He replied simply, answered her questions about the car. Otherwise, of course he hadn't stolen the car. Or the driver. "Any more questions?" He asked lolling his head back over to look at her. He was so strange some times... Make that the majority of the time.

((o__o))
Kira pondered that for a moment. "Yeah, I want a debreifing on the case." Kira told him, the mind numbing of the painkillers wearing off now and she was actually working off of more then just half of brain cells now.
"And am I getting paid for this?"

"Of course you're getting paid." Lawliet replied. "I wouldn't expect you to work for free." He added. Then he leaned back up, opening the compartment in between the seats. He pulled out a manila envelope and handed it to her. "Pictures, notes, suspects, everything you need." The man stated.

Kira nodded. “Good, don’t think that just cause you’re my baby bro doesn’t mean that I get to work for you for free.” She teased lightly, poking him jokingly in the chest. When she was handed the file folder, she took it and spread it open on her lap, placing her leg down instead of curled up next to her. Looking at the pictures and gazing through the files idly-she would read it over more thoroughly later-and looked up at L. “Well I do know one thing.” She said, pausing. “I would really hate to meet this guy in some dark alley, whoever the hell he is.” She said. “He is most definitely a he.” She said. “These killings seemed rather… impersonal. Impassionate. Women tend to kill very passionately. This is a very… indirect sort of killing. Well, not really ‘indirect’ but… less personal, ya know? Women just don’t kill like this.” She said, poking on picture with her index finger. “Plus it’s very messy. Women don’t like to get messy.”
She flipped through the file again, looking each one over a bit more carefully as they proceeded to Lawliet’s head quarters.

"Yes. I came to that deduction. Did you know while sixty-two percent of males used a firearm to kill themselves only thirty-eight percent of females used them to up themselves. Of course these are statistics from nineteen ninety-eight. Though not much has changed." He stated quite naturally as though speaking of the weather rather then the deaths of many troubled people. "I've been led to the thought that the females do so simply because they want to look pretty when they're laid in their coffins and what not." He said with the shrug of a shoulder. "Moving on, I do believe you are correct. It seems as though there is no link to this person to any of the victims. Almost as though they are random. But if he's a serial killer normally they go about a pattern. And if you look here-" he paused here to flip through the pages, stopping where it showed times and dates of the killings-" the killings are all similar, so we know it's the same person." Lawliet talked a lot when he was speaking about a case, but it was necessary to explain the whole thing. "The thing is, with the acid completely breaking down the bodies, and these people being found in buckets, it's rather hard to get prints, figure out where the whole thing went down, and how the person died in the first place." He added. "Though you can read all this in the notes." Lawliet finished as they pulled up at a hotel. "Here we are. We've set up here, it's easier to sit, eat, and talk. As it is to make people leaves their phones out." Kira would know why he didn't like the phones in, despite the fact that he kept one with him, he disliked it when they rang while he was speaking. Unless, of course, it was his own. Then it was fine, right?
((I looked up percentages on suicides, as well as homicides. Though I think we can safely keep the killer completely of our imagination without needing too many facts. ^^ I feel more knowledgeable. Did you know Lesotho, a country, is one of the worse places for murder? Iraq was like second to last out of sixteen or so. *shrugs* Haha... Why am I laughing? 0-0))
